The international independent film festival, the Lift-Off Film Festival, is back in town this week to celebrate the winners of the network’s overall season. Taking place at Pinewood Studios on Friday night, the festival’s year-end awards show will present the biggest and best films prizes from around the world.

Filmmakers, whose products were shown as part of the company’s Liverpool, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and London film festivals, have been shortlisted into nine categories, the winners of which were voted for by the festival’s selection committee, head programmers, and the audience.

Founded in 2010 by James Bradley and Ben Pohlman, the Lift-Off Global Network has focused on supporting independent cinema and putting talent before technology. Now the company has expanded, and with festivals soon to take place in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Vancouver, Singapore, and Sydney, alongside their normal season.

The main aim of the network is to kick-start the careers of independent filmmakers in the industry, as well as provide them with advice and feedback on how to improve on their next project. Winners of the overall season will have the chance for their films to be shown across the world in 2016.
