DONGKIZ, a quintet from South Korea, debuted during some of the most difficult times in the music industry when meeting and performing live in front of an audience was made impossible due to the pandemic. The group entered the world of K-pop in 2019 with the single album DONGKIZ on the Block. Since then, the young men haven’t stopped making music, and their hard work has been repaid by gaining fans not only domestically, but also overseas.

One of the many ways that DONGKIZ manage to keep their fans interested is that with each one of their releases the group’s management cleverly chooses their concepts, including the mature concept they picked for Lupin. DONGKIZ bestowed their listeners with a few more singles such as Beautiful and The Conscious, and participated in MU:CON [online performance], during which they not only wowed their fans, but also impressed the audience with their singing and charismatic choreography.

While Lupin has a mature tone, the new upcoming single will bring back a youthful, boyish atmosphere where the singers portray themselves as carefree and refuse to give into a dull and frustrating day. The theme of the upcoming single album is “chase”, which will also introduce a series of episodes that will comprise three stories about the boys’ development into men.

The first theme DONGKIZ will “chase” is going to be a “dream”. The single album CHASE Episode 1: GGUM [Ggum translates as “dream” in English] is set to be released on July 1st with the title song Crazy Night, produced by Cray Bin. The song will have an exciting beat accompanied by funky lyrics that will surely be appreciated by many, and it promises to be a relatable song which shows that, although our lives may be hard, one should try to live their life the way they desire, even if it’s just for a moment.

As for the performance, Choi Young-jun, a renowned dancer and choreographer in the K-pop community, who also worked with idols such as Seventeen, GOT7 and The Boyz, joined DONGKIZ for the first time to teach the group some fun and unique dance routines.

On this forthcoming release, Kyoungyoon (KY) prepared a “Special Thanks To” version as well. On top of that, the singer will show his guitar skills on an acoustic version of Crazy Night. One can be sure that the group’s new single album will make people happy not only by delivering a refreshing sound, but also by showcasing new concepts and fancy performances.
