When in January of 2023 we spoke to XEED, we were quietly hoping for the group to make it into the big world of K-pop. Despite facing challenges as older idols, DOHA, BAO, and Jaemin told us that they are determined to make their mark in the K-pop industry. The members shared their dreams of becoming idols and their journey into the music world, they also delved into their debut EP, Dream Land, and the group’s proactive involvement in its production. And now, with their upcoming 2nd mini-album, BLUE, we are delighted to see that the group is pushing forward. On top of that, and to everyone’s surprise, XEED have also revealed that the new members, UO and SHUN, have joined the team, adding to the chemistry and charisma of the quintet.

According to the group, the new release, which will be out on August 1st, is “a representation of XEED’s journey as they venture towards Dreamland”. The mini-album will also describe their encounter with new people while embarking on the aforementioned adventure together. In terms of the title, BLUE, in the context of the album, signifies a cloudy and foggy state, depicting “the group’s struggles and uncertainties while seeking their Dreamland, which they had escaped to in their 1st album”.

With DOHA, Jaemin, and BOA’s already recognisable vocals, the forthcoming release will also showcase UO and SHUN’s fresh voices. The title song BLUE will be filled with a tropical and lively sound and will incorporate popular melodies with a message of hope, “offering a refreshing rhythm that alleviates the scorching heat of midsummer”. In addition, XEED promises that the BLUE release will be a delightful and uplifting experience for their fans, “encapsulating the dreams and aspirations of the members as they move closer to the paradise they have long awaited”.
