The diplomatic relationship between the United Kingdom and South Korea, which has now reached a remarkable milestone of 140 years, represents a long-standing history of friendship, political partnership, and cooperation between the two nations. This enduring partnership has evolved significantly over the years, encompassing various areas of collaboration and mutual interest. The diplomatic ties between the UK and Korea trace back to the late 19th century when the United Kingdom–Korea Treaty of 1883 was signed. The event marked the formal beginning of bilateral relations and symbolised the mutual recognition of sovereignty. At the time, Korea was known as the Joseon Dynasty.
Over the years, the UK and South Korea have worked together to strengthen their political, economic, and cultural bonds. One of the most important aspects of that collaboration is cultural exchange, including bringing musical talents to the UK. And with that in mind, Korea On STAGE in LONDON will open at the OVO Arena Wembley. This cultural extravaganza is more than just a showcase; it’s a celebration of the lasting friendship between the United Kingdom and South Korea, marking the aforementioned 140 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Hosted by a collaboration of organisations including the Cultural Heritage Administration, the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), and MyMusicTaste, Korea On STAGE in LONDON is the fourth of its kind to be held in London, following previous successful editions in South Korea. In the past, the event has graced iconic locations like the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Gwanghanruwon Garden, and Gyeongbok Palace, impressing audiences with the magic of Korean culture.
The event will be hosted by the talented actress Gong Seung-Yeon (Bulgasal: Immortal Souls) who will not only bring her charm on stage but will also serve as a cultural connection between the UK and South Korea. Korea On STAGE in LONDON boasts an impressive lineup of artists representing diverse genres. Sensational K-pop groups like ATEEZ, P1HARMONY, STAYC, and JANNABI, along with Lee Young Ji (the winner of Show Me The Money 11), XDINARY HEROES, xikers, and BOYNEXTDOOR, will grace the stage, bringing immense energy like never before.
Adding a traditional touch to the event, Korean Gayageum musician Yageum Yageum will also present the country’s musical heritage. Additionally, the event will feature UK singer-songwriter Henry Moodie as a special guest, creating a unique mixture of cultures for the London audience.
Korea On STAGE in LONDON will not be limited to the lucky attendees in London. The event will be broadcast worldwide through KBS World, ensuring that fans from all corners of the globe can share in the cultural exchange. For those in South Korea, the event will air on KBS 2TV in late November, allowing viewers to experience the magic of Korea On STAGE from the comfort of their homes.
As the world continues to recognize the importance of cultural exchange and diplomacy, Korea On STAGE is a perfect example of how art and culture can connect and strengthen friendships, and celebrate the rich heritage of nations. In this grand celebration of 140 years of UK-Korea relations, the stage is set to provide an experience that will remind us that the bonds of friendship between countries are built on shared experiences and appreciation for each other’s cultures.
