J-pop continues to impress many in the West. One group that exemplifies the genre’s power and global appeal is ONE OR EIGHT. This eight-member boy group, consisting of MIZUKI, NEO, REIA, RYOTA, SOUMA, TAKERU, TSUBASA, and YUGA, has mastered the art of mixing hip-hop and pop while staying true to the essence of Japanese culture. Their name, ONE OR EIGHT, symbolises a bold, all-or-nothing mentality, which is reflected in their music and message. With the tagline “BET ON YOURSELF,” they’re not only making a name for themselves in Japan but also abroad. Their choreography, streetwear style, and lyrics, without a doubt, show their connection to Japanese culture, making them one of the most desirable J-pop groups in the J-pop scene.
Their performance video for KAWASAKI earlier this summer has now surpassed 10 million views on YouTube. As a group, they bring the spirit of hard work, passion, and friendship, always pushing themselves to reach new heights.
With their debut single Don’t Tell Nobody produced by the legendary Ryan Tedder (known for his work with Taylor Swift, Adele, and Jonas Brothers) and David Stewart (of BTS fame), ONE OR EIGHT has already proven their ability to dominate the music scene. The track, which features rap lyrics by Lucien Parker (Kanye West x Ty Dolla $ign’s STARS), skyrocketed to #1 on the Japan Billboard Heatseekers Songs chart, proving that they are one of Japan’s most promising groups.
But that’s not all – ONE OR EIGHT is taking the world by storm and embracing the West like never before. Their upcoming single DSTM is set to drop on March 19th. Without a doubt, we can expect something fresh and exciting.
You can follow the group on X, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
