The countdown is officially on: Japanese metalcore power Crystal Lake are just weeks away from dropping their long-awaited album The Weight of Sound, out 23 January 2026 via Century Media Records. And, a few days, the Tokyo heavy hitters have released Neversleep, an intense new single featuring Myke Terry (Volumes / Fire From The Gods).
Dark, unrelenting, and ferociously groove-driven, Neversleep jumps straight into one of the album’s heaviest moods. Terry’s unmistakable vocals collide with new frontman John Robert Centorrino, creating a formidable back-and-forth that pushes the track into dangerous and intoxicating territory.
The single follows previously released tracks The Weight of Sound, Crossing Nails, and the monstrous BlüdGod, each offering fans a different angle of the new era.
Guitarist and founder YD describes Neversleep as a return to his roots, and a step forward for the band:
“This track is the one where I poured in the Hardcore/Metal/Punk elements that I’ve carried as my own background to the limit. It’s simple, but with an extra twist, and at times hybrid arrangements, updating it into the kind of extreme sound that represents the current CRYSTAL LAKE. Every part of the song is made for you to dance, so don’t think too much — just feel it and enjoy. Stay heavy.”
A New Chapter: The Weight of Sound
Crystal Lake’s upcoming album arrives in multiple formats, giving fans plenty to collect:
- CD Digipak
- Grey LP (EU/UK)
- Limited white-translucent red marbled LP (600 copies worldwide)
- Translucent Forest Green LP (US)
With John Robert Centorrino fully integrated as vocalist and a renewed creative direction, The Weight of Sound is shaping up to be Crystal Lake’s most ambitious and diverse release yet.
