Brixton in London is a mecca for music, known for its vibrant scene that spans rock, hip-hop, pop, and K-pop. This iconic place has birthed legendary artists like David Bowie and continues attracting great bands and solo acts. From Dreamcatcher and Day6 to SE SO NEON, more K-pop artists are choosing Brixton as their go-to destination for London shows.
On June 11th, Brixton came alive with the arrival of TRI.BE, a six-member group featuring SongSun, Kelly, HyunBin, Jia, SoEun, and MiRe. They entertained their fans with a full-of-energy show at Brixton Jamm.
TRI:BE’s setlist began with a short intro which smoothly transitioned into the night’s first song, DOOM DOOM TA, from their debut single album TRI.BE Da Loca. Produced by Shinsadong Tiger and EXID member Elly, the girls, with big smiles on their faces and great enthusiasm, immediately brought the audience to their feet.
One has to admit that TRI.BE’s performance was impeccable, with each choreography flawlessly executed. During their first break, the members enthusiastically exclaimed, “This is our first European tour, thank you! Are you guys excited?” After the quick introduction, the girls launched into WOULD YOU RUN. With its dynamic dance moves, they brought great energy to the stage once again. Off their 2021 extended play VENI VIDI VICI, produced by Shinsadong Tiger, TRI.BE delivered a powerful performance, singing their hearts out with lyrics: “Really ah, yah, I fly up high to look for a new place / To outer space / Yeah, we go up high / To a place up high (Go, na-na).”
The performance of –18, which included a cool rap section, was sung by HyunBin, MiRe, and SoEun, who humorously quipped, “-18 will be performed by over 18,” making the crowd giggle. This was followed by GOT YOUR BACK, a slower track sung by Jia, SongSun, and Kelly, proving that they sound just as good live as they do in the studio. Despite some lip-syncing, their live vocals demonstrated their capability as singers. When they performed RUB-A-DUM the song displayed their energy and enthusiasm, though its complex and somewhat chaotic beat — mixing various musical elements instead of sticking to a single strong groove — could feel overwhelming. Nevertheless, the girls executed it well.
While actively promoting their European tour, TRI.BE also expressed their happiness and excitement, “We are so happy. Shall we talk about our unforgettable moments? Do you have any recommendations for us while we’re in the UK? Maybe some food?”
The crowd enthusiastically responded with suggestions like fish and chips, Nando’s, and sausage rolls.
“We were here in London to shoot a Coca-Cola ad two years ago. This time, we saw London again, both at night and during the day. Remembering our time here two years ago, we’re so happy to be back. We visited Big Ben and the London Eye,” the girls added.
During their performance, TRI.BE thrilled their fans with snippets of various songs, including a cover of ENHYPEN’s SWEET VENOM by SongSun and MiRe, a snippet of MIDAS TOUCH (Kiss of Life cover) by Kelly and SoEun, and a cover of Taemin’s Guilty by Jia and HyunBin. They also performed a snippet of Pink Venom by BLACKPINK.
Let’s talk about KISS; its style was instantly recognisable and aligned perfectly with the trend in girl group music. Unsurprisingly, the fans loved it! In a sweet moment, the winner of a dance competition joined TRI.BE on stage to perform the Diamond dance routine. It was quite a sight to see her nailing the moves.
As London was the last stop of their tour, the group expressed their gratitude: “Thank you so, so much for everything. We appreciate you spending your time with us.”
TRI.BE also performed WE ARE YOUNG and Diamond. Their final song, STAY TOGETHER, was a lovely way to say goodbye to their fans. The show was an absolute triumph, presenting TRI.BE’s talent and energy. As the evening ended, the girls held a delightful fan meeting, creating beautiful memories by taking selfies with their fans leaving them with an experience to cherish.
