Dancer and singer SUMMER, an artist known for her spring-like movement and refreshingly warm voice, has just released her newest single and music video, Little Kitty, a delicately emotional single that depicts the poetry of changing seasons and unconditional love.

Following her Grand Prize win at the 2024 Koreo Awards, SUMMER was allowed to bring this project to life. The song is produced by French producer Tibaut Pezzo, composed and arranged by the RGBY team and PAINTER (HaoRen Wang), who also wrote the lyrics. SUMMER leads the track with gentle, expressive vocals, supported by backing harmonies from Soo Kyeong (수경).

While writing the lyrics, I asked myself what kind of love stays no matter what. Unchanging love, one-sided love, unconditional love… that’s when I thought of the pure affection a cat has for its owner. I wanted to capture that sincerity.

The accompanying music video, produced by Kim Daru (RGBY), bathes the story in warm, retro-inspired colours and a cinematic “Seoul city mood.” It brings the emotional world of the singer’s vision, a walk through memory and love under neon-lit night skies.

SUMMER explains:

“For this song, I wanted to capture the feeling of the in-between season — when autumn slowly disappears and winter quietly arrives. I wanted the lyrics to feel like cooling air and the silent change of time.”

She also drew from her own personal experience with her cat:

“I realized that, unlike my cat, I couldn’t give that same love back forever. My attention drifted without me noticing, and I think that loneliness stayed in my heart.”

The song adopts a uniquely touching point of view – the narrator becomes the cat:

“The ‘I’ in the song is the cat. Loved strongly at first, but slowly feeling the warmth fade as time passes. Still, despite everything, it loves unconditionally.”

The music video brings this sentiment to life through a solitary night journey:

“The video shows a cat wandering through Seoul at night, looking for its owner. I hope people can feel both the purity of love and the quiet beauty of Seoul’s streets through this song.”

Little Kitty is released in three versions: the original, a speed version, and an instrumental, allowing listeners to experience the track through different emotional lenses.
