Japanese rock legends GLAY roar into their 31st year with the release of their long-awaited 63rd single, Dead Or Alive, out today alongside a striking new music video. The track marks the band’s first single in nearly two years, following their milestone 30th anniversary celebrations.
Written expressly for the opening theme of Record of Ragnarok III, the latest installment of the global hit anime series produced by Warner Bros. Japan LLC, “Dead Or Alive” brings GLAY back to their hard-rock roots with cinematic intensity. Record of Ragnarok III will stream exclusively on Netflix worldwide starting December 10, 2025.
Dead Or Alive was initially sparked by guitarist TAKURO’s desire to create a pure rock track that still reflected the emotional weight and epic scale of the anime. With HISASHI’s razor-sharp arrangement, JIRO’s thunderous basslines, and TERU’s commanding vocals, the single marks a fierce, fresh chapter for the veteran band.
TAKURO says the band approached the project with deep respect for the anime’s world:
“We are extremely honored to be in charge of the opening theme song for a work that has garnered immense popularity since its first season. We produced ‘Dead Or Alive’ keeping in mind Record of Ragnarok’s magnificent story and the struggles of each character who cannot be judged by ‘justice’ alone. The song fuses the world of thrilling action with the inherent intensity of rock music.”

Music video director Pierce Gabriel shared his inspiration behind the concept, which features the band in a dynamic New York setting:
“I researched a wide range of rock visuals shot in major cities. What moved me most were The Beatles’ London rooftop session and U2’s performance atop a Los Angeles building.”
