Duran Duran’s BST Hyde Park show just got even bigger, with organisers revealing the full line-up for the band’s headline performance on Sunday 5 July. Joining the British music legends in Hyde Park will be Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Groove Armada (DJ set), SOPHIE GREY., SISTRA, Harrison, Wendy Bevan and Sam Scherdel. They join previously announced special guests Scissor Sisters for what is shaping up to be one of the festival’s biggest nights.
Among the newly announced names are Nile Rodgers & CHIC. Rodgers has spent decades creating popular music through his work with CHIC and collaborations with artists including David Bowie, Madonna, Daft Punk, and Duran Duran themselves. Known for hits such as “Le Freak” and “Good Times”, CHIC remains one of the most celebrated live acts in music.
Electronic music pioneers Groove Armada will also bring their acclaimed DJ set to Hyde Park. The duo, made up of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, have been a fixture of the dance music scene for more than 30 years, producing classics including “At The River”, “Superstylin'” and “I See You, Baby”.
The line-up also shows many rising artists. London sister duo SISTRA arrive fresh from the release of their debut album She Won’t Let Go, while producer and vocalist Harrison continues to gain attention following the viral success of his reworking of t.A.T.u.’s “All The Things She Said”. Singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist SOPHIE GREY. will also bring her synth-driven sound to the festival.
Scissor Sisters, whose return has been one of the year’s most talked-about reunion stories, were previously announced as special guests. The New York pop group remains best known for hits including “Take Your Mama” and “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’.” Duran Duran will headline BST Hyde Park shortly after releasing their latest single, “Free To Love”, a collaboration with Nile Rodgers that combines the band’s famous pop sound with Rodgers’ unmistakable funk influence.
The Hyde Park performance marks the band’s second time headlining the festival and adds another major chapter to a career that has seen them sell more than 100 million records worldwide and become one of Britain’s most successful bands.
Tickets are on sale now through BST Hyde Park.
