Following the success of the previous edition, FOCUS ASIA 2024, the industry segment of the Far East Film Festival, is delighted to announce the full selection for the All Genres Project Market and Far East in Progress. These platforms serve as vital conduits for projects with potential for Asian and European co-production, as well as for Asian films in post-production seeking international distribution and festival premieres.
From a pool of over 100 submissions spanning 25 countries, the Focus Asia selection committee, comprising esteemed figures such as Thomas Jongsuk Nam of the NAFF – Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (South Korea), and Mike Hostench (Spain), among others, has chosen 11 projects from 8 territories. Among the projects selected for the All Genres Project Market 2024 are titles such as 1982 from Vietnam, Ballad of Long Hair from Indonesia, and Lost Land from Japan, France, and Malaysia, showing the global appeal and collaborative potential of Asian cinema.
Far East in Progress, a cornerstone of the festival’s industry program, continues its tradition of nurturing international projects incubated within workshops like Ties That Bind. This year’s selection features six promising works in progress, including Deep Quiet Room from Taiwan, Italy, and Poland, and The Shameless from France, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Taiwan, underscoring the festival’s commitment to supporting Asian films in post-production.
In addition to the project market and works in progress section, Focus Asia has curated an ambitious program of lectures, case studies, labs, and networking activities, bolstered by a robust network of international partners.
The physical event, scheduled from April 29th to May 1st, will be hosted at the Torre S. Maria and the Foresteria of Confindustria Udine, providing a conducive environment for over 200 film professionals from around the globe to engage and collaborate.
