South Korean singer-songwriter and actress IU is set to perform in front of the European audiences with exclusive performances in London on June 21st and Berlin on June 23rd, 2024. Both shows are part of her HER World Tour, which began in March in Seoul and will conclude in her homeland in September.
IU debuted at the age of fifteen with her EP Lost and Found (2008) and her rise to national stardom was solidified with the release of Good Day from her 2010 album Real, a track that topped South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart for five consecutive weeks and was later named the greatest K-pop song of the 2010s by Billboard. Throughout her career, IU has released five studio albums and nine EPs, achieving immense success and critical acclaim. Her albums, including Modern Times (2013), Palette (2017), and Love Poem (2019), proved her versatility and artistic evolution. Apart from being a singer, IU has also found her interest in acting. She has starred in popular TV dramas such as Dream High (2011), My Mister (2018), and Hotel del Luna. The artist also starred in Broker, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. In the film, IU plays So-young, a single mother who initially decides to leave her newborn at a baby box but later tries to retrieve her child. Kore-eda chose IU for the role after being moved by her performance in My Mister (2018). Broker premiered at the 75th Cannes Film Festival and competed for the Palme d’Or.
In 2022, IU began her year with the release of Ganadara, a collaborative single with Jay Park. The song achieved impressive success, reaching the number-one spot on both the Gaon Digital Chart and the Billboard K-pop Hot 100. Following this, IU’s first documentary, Pieces: 29th Winter, was released in March of the same year which depicted an intimate look into her life and career.
A significant highlight of 2022 was IU’s The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun concert, held at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on September 17 and 18. This event was historic as IU became the first Korean female artist to perform at this prestigious venue, demonstrating her immense influence and popularity. Continuing her musical journey, IU released the single Love Wins All on January 24, 2024, which is part of her sixth EP, The Winning, released on February 20, 2024.
As IU continues her HER World Tour, fans in Europe are very excited to see her performances in London and Berlin, where she will undoubtedly deliver something special.
