Junghoon, the multi-talented vocalist and lead dancer of K-pop group OMEGA X, has officially launched his solo career with the release of his first digital single, Belong. This new single arrives at a moment when Junghoon has already proven his creative versatility, having contributed as composer, lyricist, and vocalist to three tracks on the OST for the Korean BL drama My Bias Is Showing! – which starred fellow OMEGA X member Kevin. Now, Junghoon takes center stage to present a musical vision that is intimate and thoughtful, giving fans a gentle winter soundtrack filled with warmth.
“I’ve been consistently telling my fans about this for a long time, and now my first solo digital single is finally out in the world! I’m a little nervous about how listeners will react to songs that carry my story and colors, but I’m taking on this new challenge with courage. Please look forward to my journey ahead as well.”
Belong is an alternative R&B single album with two tracks: the title song, “Belong,” which expresses the comforting feeling of finding a sense of home in someone’s arms, and “Slowly,” which gently explores emotions developing bit by bit. Junghoon composed and wrote lyrics for both songs, giving the album a personal touch that mixes the vulnerability fans know from his group work with a richer solo voice. The warm, atmospheric sound makes the single perfect for the colder season.
For Junghoon, this solo venture is a continuation and an evolution of his journey with OMEGA X, the 11-member K-pop ensemble under IPQ. From their very first debut in June 2021, the members of OMEGA X have maneuvered the K-pop industry’s competitive terrain, each bringing personal histories of prior debuts or participation in survival and audition programs.
Junghoon’s solo debut does not detach him from the group identity; rather, it enriches it. The sensitivity he brings to Belong reflects the sincerity that OMEGA X has cultivated in their music and performances. While OMEGA X thrives on high-energy choreography, harmonised vocals, and group storytelling, Junghoon’s solo work provides an intimate space where listeners can connect with his personal experiences and emotions in a more direct way.
Following the single’s release, Junghoon will celebrate Belong at a release party in Seoul on December 21st, featuring live performances of the new tracks and an exclusive preview of upcoming material. Tickets went on sale on December 4th and are still available via Interpark.
Junghoon’s debut is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, one that will explore the intersection of group dynamism and individual expression, proving that even within the vast K-pop market, his voice will continue to shine.
