Something remarkable happens when someone who has spent years building for others finally creates for themselves. For most listeners, EL CAPITXN has long been a name tucked into album credits, a producer’s signature, a songwriter’s imprint, the hand behind some of K-pop’s most emotionally powerful records. Within the industry, though, he has always been something of a secret weapon.

Long before that, he first stood on stage as a member of the K-pop group HISTORY, performing under his real name, Jang Yi-yeong. While the group was tied to a specific sound and image, it only suggested the broader artist he would become, a producer and songwriter making hit after hit behind the scenes.
Now, under both the stage lights and the glow of the mixing desk, EL CAPITXN is finally telling his own story. On tour, that story sounds louder and far more personal than anyone expected, but it was born in the studio first, during endless nights of layering synths, creating melodies, and chasing the exact shade of feeling each track required.

EL CAPITXN built his reputation through his musical genius and sensitivity. Artists sought him out because he knew when to hold back just as much as when to hit hard. It’s the kind of craftsmanship you don’t always notice at first, but once you do, you start hearing it everywhere. And all of this, he carries into his own music, too.
As a solo artist, EL CAPITXN doesn’t abandon his producer’s instincts; if anything, he uses them to enhance another strength: his singing. His voice is warm and easy on the ears, with a soft vibrato that feels as delicate as birdsong. Now, with his own material, he’s bringing that sound to Europe.

The WHO KILLED EL? tour – described as a story of loss and return – goes beyond a standard DJ set. He adopts a hybrid format that combines live instrumentation with performance. As he explains, “it isn’t about perfection, but honesty: a portrait of someone who has fallen, yet keeps moving forward”.
Now, thanks to Korean London, EL CAPITXN is coming to London on May 2nd. The show will take place at the Courtyard Theatre.
