Tibet Film Festival London has announced a new Tibetan Film Season in partnership with Kagyu Samye Dzong London, bringing a month-long programme of screenings, discussions, and special guests to Bermondsey this spring.
Running weekly from 21 May to 11 June, the series builds on the success of the festival’s 2025 edition, which ended with a sold-out screening of Mola: A Tibetan Tale of Love and Loss at the historic Rio Cinema in Dalston. The event featured a guided meditation led by resident teacher Lama Zangmo and a discussion on compassion, death, and impermanence, attracting more than 175 attendees – the festival’s highest turnout to date.
The upcoming programme will explore Tibetan storytelling through a range of themes, from political documentary and women filmmakers to spirituality and diaspora experiences. The season opens on 21 May with The Story Behind the Lens, featuring screenings of Leaving Fear Behind by Dhondup Wangchen and Butter Tea by Tenzin Wangchuk Tasur. The evening will also include a special appearance by Dechen Pemba, co-founder of the festival. On 28 May, the focus shifts to Tibetan women filmmakers with a programme curated by Tashi Samuels. The selection includes works by Kunsang Kyirong, Migmar Jannot, and Tenzin Yangdon Nesar.
The 4 June session, titled Enlightened Vision, will screen Fathima the Oracle by Geleck Palsang, alongside a guest appearance from Lama Zangmo of Kagyu Samye Dzong London.
Closing the season on 11 June is The Diaspora Lens, a double bill featuring Royal Cafe by Tenzin Dasel and My Sweet Pala by Tao Okamoto, followed by a Q&A with Swiss-Tibetan actress Pema Shitsetsang.
Tickets for the screenings start at £5, with organisers encouraging both local audiences and wider London communities to attend the series.
